APOSTOLIC VICARIATE OF SALONICCO. - It was erected on 18 March 1926 and comprises, besides T. or Salonico and its surroundings, Greek Thrace, Greek Macedonia, and the islands of Taso, Lemno, Santorino, and Tenedo. It has 8 churches and 2 parishes for 2,510 Catholics, served by 4 religious priests, 3 male and 3 female religious congregations. The residence of the apostolic vicariate is at Salonico; the vicariate is now governed by an apostolic administrator (Ann. Pont. 1953, pp. 733-34).
