ZECHARIAH (Hebrew Zikhri). — Name of several persons in the Old Testament.
1. A Levite, son of Izhar (Ex. 6, 21).
2. Members of the tribe of Benjamin dwelling in Jerusalem (1 Chron. 8, 19, 23, 27).
3. One of the keepers of the treasure of the Temple under David (ibid. 26, 25).
4. An ACAZ (v.), who during the victorious war of Pekah (v.) slew Maaseiah the king’s son, Azrikam the palace prefect, and Elkanah, who was the second in authority in the kingdom after the king (2 Chron. 28, 7).
