Zeitschrift des Deutschen Palästina-Vereins. - Official scientific organ of the «Deutscher Verein zur Erforschung Palästinas», founded in 1877 in Leipzig, refounded in the last months of 1952 in Bonn.
It encompasses geographical, geological, topographical, and archaeological research on Palestine, and provides various reviews of scientific literature on Palestine. Among its contributors are Albrecht Alt, Martin Noth, Kurt Galling, and others. Until 1910 it was published by the noted publisher of travel handbooks K. Baedeker, later by J. C. Hinrichs, then (1939) by Otto Harassowitz. The editors were H. Guthe (d. 1941), I. Benzinger, C. Steuernagel (from 1903 to 1928) and, from 1929, Martin Noth. From 1945 onwards it remained suspended; in 1949–51 the three issues of vol. 68 appeared under the title Beiträge zur biblischen Landes- und Altertumskunde. The journal must not be confused with the Palästinajahrbuch des deutschen evangelischen archäologischen Instituts directed by G. Dalman, which appeared from 1905 to 1941, nor with the Palästina-Hefte des deutschen Vereins vom hl. Land, a scientific yearbook (from 1931) of a Catholic association based in Cologne.
