AGAZZARI, ROSA. - Pedagogist, educator, b. in Volongo (Cremona) on 26 March 1866. In 1882, PASQUA (v.), director of the commercial schools in Brescia, entrusted her with the direction of the nursery school in Mompiano. This first experiment in Italy of the active method (v. ATTIVISMO) soon proved successful, and numerous “A. nursery schools” were established, characterized by bright, sunny, hygienic, orderly, and welcoming environments where children felt at home, under the discreet guidance, appropriate corrections, and affectionate encouragement of the teacher. Her sister Carolina was always associated with her work.
Among the writings of A. are to be noted: *La lingua parlata* (1898); *L’abbicci del canto educativo* (1908); *Come intendo il museo didattico nella educazione dell’infanzia e della fanciullezza* (1922); *Guida per l’educazione dell’infanzia* (1932).
