ALBERTO (ADALBERT) of OBERALTACH. - Benedictine monk, Bavarian, noble knight, b. 1239, d. 26 Nov. 1311. He was minister to the counts of Haigerloch, and from 1251 a monk at Oberaltach. Later he became director of the Oblates' school, prior, parish priest, and custos; assiduous in correcting and glossing manuscripts. He established the first leper hospital in Bavaria. Soon after his death he was venerated by the people and renowned for miracles.
