BARTOLOMEO da San Concorrido. - Dominican, born in the countryside of Pisa in 1262. Taken into the Dominican Order as a youth, he completed his studies in Bologna and Paris; he later became a lecturer in Florence. He died in the Pisan convent of Santa Caterina in 1347.
In addition to *Gli ammaestramenti degli antichi*, an extensive collection of sayings from classical authors, ecclesiastical writers, and his own, first compiled in Latin and then translated into the vernacular by him, and the *Summa casuum conscientiae*, which in the Italian version attributed to Giovanni delle Celle is called *Pisanella* or *Maestrusco*, he is also credited with the *Cronache* known as those of Saint Catherine (up to 1314), a treatise on orthography, and one on the art of memory. At the request of the Florentine Nero Cambi, he translated into the vernacular Sallust’s *Catilinaria* and *Iugurtina*.
