FLAVIA IULIA CONSTANTIA (Costanza). — Daughter of Constantius Chlorus and Theodora, half-sister of Constantine the Great. In 313 for political reasons she married Licinius, whom she followed to Nicomedia. When war broke out between Licinius and Constantine, Constantia vainly sought to reconcile the two rivals. After her husband’s death she remained on good terms with her brother. Influenced by Eusebius of Nicomedia, she supported the Arians and attended the Council of Nicaea in 325.
