EISENHOFER, LUDWIG. - Born at Mocano on 1 Apr. 1871, died at Eichstätt on 29 Mar. 1941. Ordained priest on 29 June 1895, in 1898 he succeeded Ebner in the chair of patrology and liturgy at the Eichstätt Seminary, and from 1900 he also taught ecclesiastical history there.
His name is associated with the Handbuch der katholischen Liturgik (4th ed., Freiburg in Br. 1941) by Thalhofer, which he substantially revised and greatly expanded, making it without doubt the best manual of liturgical science now available. A brief compendium prepared by him was translated into Italian (Turin 1940).
