EISLER, RUDOLF. – Philosopher, b. in Vienna on 7 Jan. 1873, d. there on 14 Dec. 1926. He completed his studies in Leipzig, where he pursued his scholarly activity. He translated various philosophical works. He was influenced by the thought of Kant and the post-Kantian idealists.
Principal works: Die Beweis der Ausseewelt (Leipzig 1900); Einführung in d. Erkenntnistheorie (there 1907); Geschichte der Monismus (there 1910); Geist u. Körper (Göttingen 1912); Wörterbuch d. phil. Begriffe (3 vols., Berlin 1910, 4th ed. there 1927–30); Philosophen-Lexikon (there 1912).
