EISELIN, WILHELM. — Premonstratensian cleric, born in Mindelheim (Württemberg) in 1564, died at Rot on 28 March 1588. The son of poor parents, educated by the Canons Regular of S. Spirito at Memmingen, he became a novice and cleric in the Premonstratensian abbey at Rot (Württemberg).
For his theological formation, E. was sent to the Jesuit University of Dillingen. Owing to illness, however, he had to abandon his studies and return to the abbey, where he died at the age of twenty-four after a brief illness. Despite his limited intellectual gifts, E. achieved good results in his studies through his diligence and fervent prayers. He was distinguished by his purity and fervent Marian devotion. His body, which at his death was said to have shone with beauty, gave off a sweet fragrance. The relics are found at Rot. He is venerated as a blessed in Sweden.
