Franciscan Sisters of Our Lady of Perpetual Help. — They were founded among the Polish people in the United States in 1901 by Archbishop John J. Kain in St. Louis, Missouri, for the purpose of teaching Polish-speaking children; they also perform domestic work in seminaries, colleges, etc., in various dioceses of the United States. Aggregated to the Franciscan Order in 1907, the sisters, known as Polish school sisters, number 258 in 28 houses.
