Also called I. of Madrid, he was born about the year 1070 and died on 15 May 1130 in Madrid.
He practiced the trade of farmer in an exemplary manner, devoting himself at the same time to a life of continual prayer and charity toward his neighbor. His wife, Maria Toribia, by whom he had a son, is also venerated with the title of blessed (cf. Acta SS. Maii, III, Antwerp 1680, pp. 550–57). On 14 June 1619 Paul V approved his cult, and Gregory XV solemnly canonized him on 12 March 1622. He is commemorated in the Roman Martyrology on 10 May.
