PERMUSER, BALTHASAR. – German sculptor, born at Kammer, near Otting im Chiemgau, in August 1651, died at Dresden on 20 February 1732.
He was in Italy in 1675, where, in Florence, he was known as Baldassarre Fiammingo, Belmosel or Delmosel. Besides Florence, he was probably active in other Italian cities, where he also travelled after becoming, in 1589, court sculptor to Johann Georg III of Saxony. In Florence he left several sculptures on the façade of S. Gaetano (c. 1680), the Assumption of S. Andrea Corsini (1683) at the Carmine, and a relief Crucifix in S. Elisabetta delle Convertite.
In the many works attributed to him and preserved in Germany, he appears as an important artist, especially with regard to the development of the Italian Baroque in that country.
