STRAUSS, D. F.) by R. Bultmann (v. ANGELO), which so plagues world Protestantism; b) with the elimination even of every central message (kerygma) of the Bible, undertaken by the Swiss theologian F. Buri; c) with the elimination of the mysteries (Sacraments) from the New Testament text by Markus Barth, son of the renowned Karl Barth. In all three cases, this is a final attack by modern rationalism and mysticism against the truth of the Bible. They seek to erase from the Bible: transcendent truths, the message of the cross and resurrection, the fundamental Sacraments for the new life of God’s beloved children (e.g., by using dialectical artifices to claim that there is no passage in the New Testament speaking of Baptism as a Sacrament). In the face of such truly subversive attempts, the *Sancta Papa* (S. P.), which might be called the Catholic hymn to the absolute and inviolable truth of the Bible, is a continual call to order: namely, that the Bible contains a truth above the reckless dreams of today’s mystic, above rationalistic pride.
