BABAJ of GEBILTĀ. – A musician of the 8th century, reformer of the Nestorian chant, which had greatly declined in his time. He founded 24 (according to others, 60) schools in the dioceses of Marga and Adiabene. Liturgical texts composed by him are still in use in the Nestorian liturgy.
