Letter CDLXXXI. To a person unknown.

To his friend, B(ernard), Abbot of Clairvaux, health in the Lord. 4 I beg you, my very dear friend, to use your utmost diligence both diligently to explain and faithfully to commend as far as you are able, this sealed letter [enclosed to the Count; that so I, although a sinner, may be able to offer my prayer to God for your sins with greater eagerness and confidence. Be thou on my behalf to thy lord, that I may be on thy behalf to the Lord of all.
