ANSELMO, archbishop of MILANO. — A. II, occupant of the see from 6 March 883 to 27 September 896, is the owner of the celebrated medieval collection of legal texts known as the Collectio Anselmo dedicata.
It is probable that the collection was compiled in the Milanese area while A. was archbishop; this is confirmed by internal evidence.
The collection, for the most part unpublished, consists of 1,580 canons grouped into 12 books; the texts are, with few exceptions, drawn from earlier collections.
