ANSELMO, ARCIVESCOVO DI MILANO

ANSELM, Archbishop of Milan. - A. II, on the cathedra from 6 March 883 to 27 Sept. 896, is the titular figure of the celebrated medieval collection of legal texts, called precisely the Collectio Anselmo dedicata.

It is probable that the collection was made in the Milanese area, while A. was archbishop; this is confirmed by internal arguments.

The collection, for the most part unpublished, consists of 1,580 canons, grouped into 12 books; the texts are, with few exceptions, drawn from earlier collections.
