« AURORA IAM SPARGIT POLUM ». – Hymn for Saturday Lauds, contained in manuscripts of the ninth century. Just as the light of the dawning day dispels the darkness of night, so divine grace drives sin from the soul. This thought dominates the poet’s inspiration in a hymn that must be sung precisely at the birth of the new day.
