Carroccio (The)

CARROCCIO (THE). - Monthly magazine of "formation and action" for young people; it was founded in Milan in October 1922 by the then nascent Society of St. Paul, which Cardinal Ferrari, archbishop of the diocese, wished to bless on his deathbed. It gathered the best literary contributors, such as Papini, Giulotti, Angelini, Felici, and found wide circulation thanks to a spirit of avant-garde and daring of the movement of which it was an expression. It then underwent transformations that were not always happy, until in 1943 it was suspended. At present (1949) the Society of St. Paul intends to resume its publication.
