ENRICO V, king of ENGLAND. — Born on 9 August 1387 at Monmouth, died on 31 August 1422 at Vincennes. He ascended the throne upon the death of his father, Enrico IV, in 1413. Desirous of glory, he landed in France to conquer that country’s crown. He won brilliant victories in battle, defeating the French cavalry at Agincourt (1415). He married Caterina di Valois, daughter of Carlo VI of France, and was supposed to succeed his father-in-law to the throne, but his premature death brought this plan to nothing.
