HYDROPARASTATES. - From the Greek ὅθωρ = water, and παραστατέω (cf. παρλατημα) = I stand beside, and therefore: I defend, is the name that occurs in Theodoret (Haer. fab., 1, 20) and in the Codex Theodosianus (XVI, 5) to indicate the Aquarians (v.).
