« O GLORIOSA VIRGINUM ». — Hymn of Lauds in the Office of the Common of feasts of the Madonna, composed by Venanzio Fortunato.
Full of admiration for the Virgin, the poet exalts her who gave human flesh to her Creator and who now shares with him the glory of heaven. For just as death came into the world through Eva, through Maria life was obtained, life which all the faithful praise. May the Virgin now open the gates of heaven to the pilgrims of the world, weeping in this vale of tears.
