POVERE SUORE INSEGNANTI DI NOSTRA SIGNORA. – In 1860 the bishop of Colocza, Giuseppe Kunszt, summoned to his diocese some of the P. S. of the Schools of Our Lady of Budweis. The new Institution soon flourished, producing great results, especially in the education of young women.
The prolonged stay of the superior of Budweis at Colocza, together with other local causes of antagonism, led the Budweis branch, after one year, to elect a new superior and separate from Colocza. With the separation, a new congregation came into being, which soon spread and obtained pontifical approval on 12 January 1903. At present there are 934 sisters, distributed among 67 houses.
