AGLI-BOL. - A deity worshipped at Palmyra, where archaeology attests to the existence of a college of priests, of altars and of sacrifices dedicated to it. It is a lunar deity, associated both with the supreme god Bel and with his paredros Yarhi-Bol, the sun god. It is depicted as a young warrior with the lunar crescent on his shoulders; it was probably the original Ba'al of Palmyra, and its name appears in Palmyrene theophoric onomastics.
