ANONIMO VALESIANO. — This name is generally used to designate an important chronicle, first published by H. Valois (Valesio) in 1636 as an appendix to his edition of Ammiano Marcellino, under the title De Constantio Chloro, Constantino Magno et aliis imperatoribus excerpta auctoris ignoti. The fragment comprises two parts: one covering 293 to 337, composed before the time of the emperor Honorius by a non-Christian author, but subsequently interpolated; the other covering 474 to 526, written before the end of the Gothic kingdom, in an already barbarous style, by an author hostile to the Arians. This latter part is also called: Cronaca Teodoriciana.
