Cerri, Urbano

CERRI, URBANO. - A Roman, appointed secretary of the Congregation de Propaganda Fide by Clement X in 1675, d. in 1679, leaving an unpublished report on the State of the Catholic Religion Throughout the World 1677, which was first published in an English version in London in 1715 by Sir Richard Steele. The version says that the report was written "for the use of Pope Innocent XI" and also contains a dedicatory letter from Steele to Pope Clement XI concerning the state of religion in Great Britain and other particulars on the conditions of those times.
