CERRI, URBANO. — A Roman, appointed secretary of the Congregation de Propaganda Fide by Clement X in 1675, he died in 1679, leaving an unpublished account on the Stato della religione cattolica in tutto il mondo 1677, which was first published in an English version in London in 1715 by Sir Richard Steele. The version states that the account was written « for the use of Pope Innocent XI » and also contains a dedicatory letter from Steele to Pope Clement XI concerning the state of religion in Great Britain, as well as other details about the conditions of those times.
