FRENOSI

FRENOSI. – An ancient term, proposed by Verga (from epipé = “intellect”), now obsolete and replaced by the more commonly used term “petrosi” (v.), to indicate the various, predominantly chronic, forms of mental illness (v. MALATTIE).
