JEUNESSE MARINAIRE CHRÉTIENNE (JEUNESSE MARITIME CHRÉTIENNE) - It gathers under itself, in French-speaking countries, the young maritime element. And this for two principal reasons: the instability of young sailors forced to move from place to place, traveling for many months of the year; and the just claims that they have or may have to present to society. It was founded in 1929.

The J. M. C. wishes to establish in every maritime base meeting places for these young people, with groups of friends and a chaplain to welcome them; to form all young sailors into a strong bloc, united in a national Movement, capable of making its voice heard by the State. Furthermore, it is the desire of the J. M. C. to place on a single front, also in order to avoid existing divergences among them, seafarers both of commerce and of fishing, and those in the service of the State, while reserving the right to promote specialized congresses for the three categories.

The groups or circles existing in the various cities report to a secretary general.

The Movement publishes the monthly Jeunesse marinaire.
