GIOVENTÙ ITALICA. – Journal published under the auspices of the Gioventù Italiana di Azione Cattolica from May 1912—when it took over the legacy of La Parola, a monthly journal founded on the initiative of the Dante Alighieri Student Circle of Rome—to May 1943. In addition to articles providing guidance, it contains the official proceedings of the organization of the Gioventù Cattolica and a chronicle of its activities.

Beginning in 1914, it adopted the title Rivista della società della Gioventù Cattolica Italiana. During the period 1915–18, it additionally published a weekly sheet entitled Mentre si combatte and, from 3 December 1918 to 25 May 1919, Dopo la vittoria. From January 1923, having been given a new typographical format, it adopted the title Pubblicazione ufficiale mensile illustrata della società della Gioventù Cattolica Italiana. Suspended from June 1931 through the whole of 1932, it was subsequently divided into Bollettino dirigenti and Rivista mensile di cultura. Suspended once again at the end of 1939 by the Ministry of Popular Culture, it resumed publication in May 1940, absorbing into a single publication also Tecnica, the monthly journal of the diocesan leaders of the Gioventù Cattolica, and addressing organizational subjects, educational problems, etc. During 1940, G. I. published a series of booklets, among which L'Ottocento, Itinerari, and Roma deserve particular mention. In 1941, it once again became exclusively a journal of culture, while discussions of a technical nature were dealt with by Apostolato. With no. 8 of December 1942, it became the official organ of the 75th anniversary of the Società della Gioventù Cattolica Italiana, with the program of publishing historical documents, recollections of the past, and archival and bibliographical notes for the reconstruction of the history of the Gioventù Cattolica Italiana.
