Jeunesse Indépendante Chrétienne (J.I.C.)

JEUNESSE INDÉPENDANTE CHRÉTIENNE (J.I.C.) - It arose in French-speaking countries in 1925 and addresses all young people belonging to the middle class, the bourgeoisie and the aristocracy, to commerce, industry and the liberal professions, whose task it is to contribute, with all their prerogatives and possibilities for action, to the creation of a harmonized society. It is organized into parish and interparish sections, and federal or diocesan bodies that report to a national committee composed of 15 members.

The J. I. C. seeks to give its members a religious and moral, social and civic, professional and political formation, through the implementation and study of a general program of the Movement. To this end it establishes commissions of employees and officials that deal with questions concerning this category, as well as commissions that deal with military personnel, and it has a training school for its own leaders. The J. I. C. also undertakes to intervene so that the means of recreation offered by society to youth, social gatherings, etc., do not constitute a serious danger to morality, but are always Christian.

The organization's publication is the Bulletin, for its leaders. The badge is a small shield with the inscription J. I. C. and an ear of wheat winding around a Cross placed at the center. Parallel to this movement there exists an analogous one for women.
