MASERU, Diocese of. - With the establishment of the ecclesiastical hierarchy in the Union of South Africa, on 11 January 1951 the apostolic vicariate of Basutoland (v.) became the diocese of M. The name indicates a small town that lies almost at the boundaries of the diocesan territory. The seat of the Ordinary is at Roma in Basutoland.
