MEDITRINALIA. – A Roman religious festival fixed by the most ancient calendar on October 11th.
Although the tradition of the grammarians claims to know also a goddess Meditrina, the calendar data guarantee that the god of the festival was Jupiter. This is confirmed by the fact that the festival was connected with the cultivation of wine (the first tasting of the must), since even the Vinalia were festivals of Jupiter. A formula that was repeated at the festival has been preserved: *novum vetus vinum bibo, novo veteri morbo medeor*.
