MEDITRINALIA. – Festival of the Roman religion, fixed by the oldest calendar for 11 October.
Although the tradition of the grammarians claims to know also a goddess Meditrina, calendrical data guarantee that the god of the festival was Jupiter. This is confirmed by the fact that the festival was connected with the cultivation of wine (the first tasting of the must), since the Vinalia too were festivals of Jupiter. A formula has been preserved that was repeated at the festival: novum vetus venum bibo, novo veteri morbo medeor.
