OSANNA da CATTARO, blessed. – Born in Releza, near Cetinje, on 25 November 1493 to Orthodox parents; died in Cattaro on 27 April 1565. At the age of 14 she entered the service of a Catholic family in Cattaro, where, instructed in Catholicism, she devoted herself to a life of penance as a recluse in the monastery of St. Paul.
There she received the religious habit of the Dominican Tertiaries and took the name O. She gathered around her numerous virgins who, following her example, led a religious life as Dominican tertiaries. Her cult was approved by Pius XI on 21 December 1927 (AAS, 20 [1928], pp. 29–42).
