RERUM CREATOR OPTIME. — Hymn of Matins for Wednesday.

By an unknown author (cf. G. M. Dreves - C. Blume, Anal. hymnica, LI, Leipzig 1908, p. 27 ff.). The soul of the poet, weighed down by sadness, draws near to God in a humble attitude of prayer and implores His forgiveness, especially in the final stanza, so full of trusting sorrow.
