« RERUM CREATOR OPTIME » — Morning Hymn on Wednesday.
By an unknown author (cf. G. M. Dreves - C. Blume, Analecta hymnica, LI, Leipzig 1908, pp. 27 ff.). The poet’s soul, weighed down by sadness, approaches God in a humble posture of prayer and begs His forgiveness, especially in the final stanza, so full of confident sorrow.
