REVUE D'HISTOIRE ECCLÉSIASTIQUE. – Journal published by the Catholic University of Louvain, founded in 1900 by A. Cauchie and P. Ladeuze, with the aim of re-examining the external
and internal history of all Christian peoples and of setting forth the various elements of the historical method from the standpoint of ecclesiastical history (cf. R. d'h. e., 1 [1900], p. 28 ff.). In its field, it is the most comprehensive scholarly periodical.
Each year consists of four issues containing articles, critical reviews, chronicles, and a bibliography. The latter, which includes not only books and articles but also the principal reviews relating to them, has been printed, since 1902, in a separate volume, and gathers between 8,000 and 10,000 works each year. With 1952, the collection of the R. d'h. e. comprises 91 vols.
