REVUE OF ECCLESIASTICAL HISTORY. - Journal published by the Catholic University of Louvain, founded in 1900 by A. Cauchie and P. Ladeuze, with the program of re-examining the external and internal history of all Christian peoples and of setting out the various elements of the historical method from the point of view of ecclesiastical history (cf. R. d'h. e., 1 [1900], p. 28 ff.). In this field it is the most comprehensive scholarly periodical.

Each volume consists of four issues containing articles, critical reviews, chronicles, and bibliography. The latter, which includes besides books and articles also the principal reviews relating to them, has been printed, from 1902 onward, in a separate volume, and gathers each year from 8,000 to 10,000 works. With 1952 the collection of the R. d'h. e. numbers 91 vols.
