REVUE D'HISTOIRE DES MISSIONS. - In 1924 the Jesuit Fr Giovanni Battista Piolet founded the association of the «Amis des Missions» and, as its organ, the R. d'h. d. M. The editorship was entrusted to Giorgio Goyau, a member of the French Academy.
Its purpose was the study of missionary history, especially that of the French missions, in order to awaken the interest of the educated classes in the missionary work of the Church for national and religious reasons. At the same time, Goyau intended to secure for missionary history its proper place in the universal and cultural history of France. The R. d'h. d. M. was published four times a year until 1939. Thereafter, beginning with its 17th year (1940), it was merged with the journal Études missionnaires, likewise published by the «Amis des Missions» since 1933, under the title Revue des missions; publication, however, ceased because of the war already in that same year, 1940. The Neue Zeitschrift für Missionswissenschaft, Nouvelle Revue de Science missionnaire, partly takes the place of the R. d'h. d. M..
