REVUE OF THE HISTORY OF MISSIONS. - In 1924 the Jesuit Father Giovanni Battista Piolet founded the association of the "Amis des Missions" and, as its organ, the R. d'h. d. M. The editorship was entrusted to Georges Goyau, a member of the French Academy.

Its purpose was the study of missionary history, especially that of the French missions, in order to awaken the interest of the educated classes in the missionary work of the Church for national and religious reasons. At the same time Goyau's aim was to secure for missionary history its proper place in the universal and cultural history of France. The R. d'h. d. M. was published four times a year until 1939. Then, from its 17th year (1940), it was merged with the journal Études missionnaires, likewise published by the "Amis des Missions" since 1933, under the title Revue des missions; however, publication ceased, because of the war, in that same year 1940. The Neue Zeitschrift für Missionswissenschaft, Nouvelle Revue de Science missionnaire, partly makes up for the R. d'h. d. M.
