REVUE OF THE HISTORY OF THE CHURCH IN FRANCE. - A quarterly journal of historical criticism on problems connected with the development of religious thought and the vicissitudes of the ecclesiastical hierarchy in the territory of France, organ of the "Société d'histoire ecclésiastique de la France."

It was founded in 1910 by A. Vogt and initially appeared in bimonthly fascicles, each of which was to be devoted to a diocese. In 1913 the founder was joined in the editorship by V. Carrière, who gave the periodical a new impetus, abandoning the difficult original plan. The First World War forced the suspension of publication in the years between 1915 and 1919: with 1920 the journal resumed publication under the sole editorship of V. Carrière, and, after the latter's death (1946), under that of P. Marot. A general index of the volumes for 1910-30 was published in a separate volume by U. Roziès (Paris 1932). Among the articles published, various studies of a methodological character are particularly noteworthy.
