REVUE D'HISTOIRE DE L'ÉGLISE DE FRANCE. - A quarterly journal of historical criticism on problems connected with the development of religious thought and the fortunes of the ecclesiastical hierarchy in the territory of France, the organ of the «Société d'histoire ecclésiastique de la France».
It was founded in 1910 by A. Vogt and initially appeared in bimonthly issues, each of which was to be devoted to a diocese. In 1913 V. Carrière joined the founder in the editorship and gave the periodical new impetus, abandoning the difficult original plan. The First World War compelled the suspension of publication between 1915 and 1919; in 1920 the journal resumed publication under the sole direction of V. Carrière, and, after his death (1946), under that of P. Marot. A cumulative index for the years 1910-30 was published in a separate volume by U. Roziès (Paris, 1932). Among the articles published, several methodological studies are particularly noteworthy.
