REVUE D'HISTOIRE ET DE LITTÉRATURE RELIGIEUSES. — Founded in Paris in 1896, with the assiduous collaboration of the Modernist A. Loisy, its principal objective was the history of Christianity and Israel, biblical and Christian literature, and the religions and religious philosophies of the ancient world.
It published leading articles, chronicles, and reports, consistently maintaining a historical and critical perspective. Its contributors included L. Duchesne, P. Lejay, F. Cumont, J. Zeiller, van den Gheyn, and S. Reinach. It suspended publication in 1910, coinciding with the suppression of Modernism, and resumed it in the same year, with the same program, as a “new series,” under the direction of A. Loisy; it ceased publication definitively in 1922 after publishing a further seven volumes.
