STUDIUM. - A cultural journal, which began publication in 1905 as the organ of the Federazione Universitaria Cattolica Italiana (v.). Since 1933 it has been the expression of the cultural activity of the Movimento Laureati di Azione Cattolica, directed successively by Igino Righetti (v.), Renzo E. de Sanctis, Sergio Paronetto, Aldo Moro and currently by G. B. Scaglia.
It publishes articles of a spiritual nature and of moral evaluation of events, follows and comments on the expressions of culture and of life in the aspects most interesting and demanding for the cultured layman; it illustrates in its « Rassegne » scientific activity and moral and practical problems; it welcomes polemical exchanges and examines in its chronicles the events of interest to the life of the Church, national and international life, and social problems.
