STUDIUM. – A cultural review that began publication in 1905 as the official organ of the Federazione Universitaria Cattolica Italiana (q.v.). Since 1933 it has been the expression of the cultural activity of the Movimento Laureati di Azione Cattolica, successively directed by Igino Righetti (q.v.), Renzo E. de Sanctis, Sergio Paronetto, Aldo Moro, and currently by G. B. Scaglia.
It publishes articles of a spiritual nature and moral assessments of events, follows and comments on expressions of culture and life in their most interesting and challenging aspects for the cultured layperson; it illustrates in its “Reviews” scientific activity and moral and practical problems; it includes polemical pieces and examines in its chronicles events of interest to the life of the Church, national and international life, and social issues.
