Letter CDXXXIII. To the same, on the same subject.

It is needful that you should be the friend of my friends: and I am anxious that you should assist Brother N. in the cause which he has on hand; yet with such discretion, that the clergy should be rendered subject to their own Bishop, as is meet, and that they should not be oppressed in his awarding of justice: and as to every thing else, there should be peace between them.

Letter CDXXXIV.

In causa domini Trecensis et clericorum illa, quaesumus, cautela servetur, ut episcopus, sicut dignum est, honoretur, et clerici sua justitia non priventur. Reformetur pax inter eos, et frenum imponatur malevolis, ut de caetero in jam senem pastorem insurgere unquam non possint.
