Dato a Roma presso San Pietro

1 CONSTITUTION
2 That the Feast of the Conception of the Blessed Mary the Virgin Immaculate be observed by precept everywhere henceforth.
3 CLEMENT POPE XI
4 To perpetual memory of the matter.
5 The office of the sacred Apostolic ministry committed to Us by divine gifts requires that we strive to enlarge, after the manner of many of Our Roman Pontiff predecessors, the veneration and worship of that most glorious Virgin, whom the Archangel announced to the whole world, she who, exalted above the Choirs of Angels, as a diligent intercessor for the Christian people, continually intercedes in heaven with Him whom she bore; and we constantly endeavor to promote, as far as is granted to Us from on high, her most powerful aid in so many and such great necessities by which the Christian Republic and the Catholic Church are pressed. Moved therefore by sincere devotion toward that same most August Queen of Heaven, our Patroness and Advocate, we decree, command, and mandate by Apostolic authority in the tenor of these presents that the Feast of the Conception of the same Blessed Mary, Virgin Immaculate, be observed everywhere throughout the world henceforth by all and each of the faithful of both sexes, and that it be comprehended among the other Feasts and under the precept of the observance of Feasts. Notwithstanding the Apostolic Constitutions and Ordinances and all other things to the contrary whatsoever. We will moreover that to copies or exemplars of these same present letters, even if printed and subscribed by the hand of any public notary and furnished with the seal of a person constituted in ecclesiastical dignity, the same faith be given as would be given to these presents themselves, if they were exhibited or shown. Given at Rome at St. Peter
