ABDERHALDEN, EMIL. – Swiss physiologist and biological chemist (1877–1946), professor at the University of Halle. Pontifical Academician from 1936. In addition to his work as a biological chemist, he should be remembered for having founded and directed, from 1922 to 1938, the journal Ethik, intended to combat certain social diseases, and for his appeal to join the German Medical League for Sexual Morality (1918). He opposed anti-religious propaganda.
