ABDON. - One of the minor judges, son of Hillel, a native of Pirathon, the present-day Far'ata, 10 km southwest of Naplusa. A wealthy landowner, he had 41 sons and 30 grandsons who rode 70 donkeys, an indication of wealth and nobility (*Judg.* 5:10; 10:4). He judged for eight years, probably in the region of Ephraim, and after his death was buried in his native city near a mountain that may have been called *Amalekite* due to an ancient colonization or a war episode (*Judg.* 12:13-15).
