AD BENEPLACITUM NOSTRUM. – This is a clause sometimes used in papal rescripts or other ecclesiastical decrees, equivalent in force to such phrases as: donec voluero, quamdiu mihi placuerit, etc. By it the concession granted ceases when the grantor revokes it, or when he dies or loses the competence to issue such decrees (cf. CIC, cann. 73 and 183, § 2). It is clear, in fact, that one who is dead, or for other reasons is deprived of the faculty to issue rescripts or enact decrees, cannot juridically have any will or approval in relation to such acts.
