AD LUCEM (ASSOCIATION DES LAÏQUES UNIVERSITAIRE CATHOLÈQUES ET MISSIONNAIRES). — It was founded in Lille in 1931 among the students of the Catholic university and officially established in 1932, in order to provide the missions with specialized lay personnel (doctors, nurses, engineers, teachers, midwives, agricultural technicians, etc.) according to their needs and requests. Since 1935 it has carried out its activities in Cameroon (the Apostolic Vicariate of Jaunde), with two hospitals, various dispensaries, doctors, etc.; another field of its activity is the Apostolic Vicariate of Hué in Annam.
