AGASSIZ. LUIGI. — Swiss zoologist, born in Môtier on 28 March 1807, died in Cambridge, Mass., on 14 December 1873. He disseminated comparative anatomy, embryology, and zoology in America. A believing spirit, he saw in the variety of forms the expression of divine omnipotence. “It is the manifestation of divine thought as expressed in a part of that great whole which we call Nature”...
