AICHNER, SIMON. - Canonist, b. at Terenten (Tyrol) on 19 Oct. 1816, d. at Bressanone on 1 Nov. 1911. Professor of canon law in the seminary of Bressanone, then (1884) bishop of that same city and finally (1904) titular archbishop of Theodosiopolis, he wrote a Compendium iuris ecclesiastici, which went through numerous editions and was much praised for clarity of exposition and solidity of doctrine.
