ALBERT OF HOHENBERG. - Bishop of Freising, born c. 1303 from the counts of Hohenberg, died in 1359. Already in 1317 he was named canon of Constance, studied and taught law in Paris until 1329. He served Emperor Louis the Bavarian from 1340 to 1342 as chancellor of the kingdom. He then switched allegiance to Pope John XXII, who in 1349 appointed him to the episcopal see of Freising. A chronicle is often attributed to him, published in Basel in 1553 under the name of Albert of Strasbourg, which is probably instead by Matthias of Neuenburg.
