Diocese of Alexandria in Louisiana

ALEXANDRIA in LOUISIANA, DIOCESE of. — In the United States, suffragan of Nuova Orleans. Erected on 23 July 1853 under the name of Natchitoches, it was transferred to A. on 6 August 1910. Catholics number 56,251, out of a population of 884,053 inhabitants. There are 50 parishes, with 55 diocesan priests and 41 religious priests.
