Altoona, Diocese of

ALTOONA, DIOCESI di. — In Pennsylvania (United States), suffragan of Philadelphia. Established on 30 May 1901, A. comprises the eight counties of the state of Pennsylvania detached from the dioceses of Pittsburgh and Harrisburg. Catholics number 124,706, out of a population of 619,257 inhabitants. There are 111 parishes, 137 diocesan priests, and 76 religious priests.
